CLUBZERØ signs first £1m+ ARR deal with Just Eat for Business
17 November 2022
CLUBZERØ expands partnership with Just Eat for Business to tackle disposable plastic pollution across the takeaway sector with reusable packaging saving 6.4million items of single-use plastics per year
- The service is designed to replace single-use packaging through a convenient returnable packaging system for corporate offices London wide
- CLUBZERØ’s service cuts CO2 emissions by half and reduces waste by 250 times when compared to single-use packaging
As part of its commitment to make London a zero waste city, CLUBZERØ has teamed up with Just Eat for Business (B2B division of Just Eat Takeaway) to expand reusable packaging giving businesses and corporates a choice beyond single-use plastic packaging.
Designed to provide a zero-waste experience through a convenient packaging return scheme, the expansion will see over 80 restaurants and cafes in London and surrounding areas provide the service with reusable takeaway cups and containers to London businesses.
Business customers will have a choice to opt in for CLUBZERØ reusable packaging when placing an order with Just Eat for Business from a range of participating restaurants or cafes through the Just Eat for Business platform. Having enjoyed their meals, the packaging will be collected by CLUBZERØ to be washed centrally and redistributed for reuse.
It is estimated that 2.5 billion disposable cups and half a billion single-use plastic boxes are used across the UK takeaway industry each year with less than 1% being effectively recycled. The reusable cups and food containers used as part of this partnership expansion use up to 50% less CO2 than single-use plastic lined cups and food boxes and are fully recyclable.
Safia Qureshi, founder and CEO of CLUBZERØ, said:
"We are thrilled to be expanding our work with Just Eat following a successful 10 month pilot for Just Eat for Business. Our vision is to see reuse adopted as the new norm across F&B delivery and takeaway. Today we have achieved a major milestone in making this a reality for hundreds of businesses and consumers London wide. We look forward to expanding this model throughout 2023 with Just Eat for Business."
Matt Ephgrave, Managing Director at Just Eat for Business, said:
“Minimising our environmental impact has always been at the heart of our business, however we knew that in order to achieve minimal waste, we needed to provide a sustainable service that would stick and be easily implemented into our vendors’ delivery models. Our partnership with CLUBZERØ does just that - it offers a convenient service as well as an effective way to reduce packaging waste.
We’re thrilled to be part of the journey to making the food delivery industry more environmentally friendly and are looking forward to seeing more and more businesses adopt the same approach.”
