CLUBZERØ returns to Wimbledon, in partnership with Barclays, for a second year with its Perfect Pot
8th July 2024
According to the UK Government, a typical mass sporting event can generate up to 7 tonnes of waste. That’s why CLUBZERØ has teamed up with Barclays for the second consecutive year at the Wimbledon Championships to reduce single-use waste within The Queue.
Barclays became the Official Banking Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, in January 2023, uniting two iconic British Institutions. Building on the success of Barclays’ 2023 collaboration with CLUBZERØ, where fans enjoyed refreshing juices in CLUBZERØ’s returnable cold cups, this year they continue their partnership to launch CLUBZERØ’s latest food container range.
As Wimbledon opened its gates on Monday, 1st July, Barclays customers are being offered strawberries and cream ice-cream in the bank’s Game, Seat, Match Area, served in CLUBZERØ’s latest packaging innovation: the Perfect Pot.
The Perfect Pots have been expertly designed in-house at CLUBZERØ to ensure exceptional temperature tolerance, durability, and customer satisfaction, making it the ideal choice to serve summer favourites.
Alongside the Perfect Pots, CLUBZERØ is set to unveil its new and improved Drop Point Boxes, designed to support large sporting events with convenient drop points for customers to return packaging to.
Throughout the tournament, the Perfect Pots will be serviced daily, using Zedify’s emission-free electric vehicles to provide sustainable collections and redistributions of packaging. Zedify, who received investment from Barclays’ Sustainable Impact Capital, a mandate to invest £500m of Barclays capital into global climate tech start-ups by the end of 2027, are the UK’s largest e-cargo bike delivery network providing a sustainable delivery service across 9 UK cities.
CLUBZERØ was first supported by Barclays through its Unreasonable Impact programme in 2021, a partnership with Unreasonable Group that supports high-growth ventures with the network and resources they need to address pressing social and environmental challenges. Supporting innovative climate tech companies is just one of the ways Barclays is financing the transition.
CLUBZERØ provides a solution to tackle the high-volume demands of food and beverage consumption by offering high sustainability standards through its returnable packaging service, a solution that replaces single-use packaging and also cuts CO2 emissions by 50%.
Safia Qureshi, Founder and CEO of CLUBZERØ, said:
“Our perfect pots are the newest addition to our returnable packaging range, following months of rigorous development with our customers and partners. It is critical to establish standards for returnable packaging and we are thrilled to be pioneering this through our continued work at the Championships, Wimbledon in partnership with Barclays.”
